課程概述

The course covers the skills
of speaking, listening,
reading & writing in a
learning environment that
aims to facilitate interest
in the language and
confidence in using the
target language. It also
incorporates language
learning strategies that
foster learners’ capacity
for responsible continuous
learning, which include
training in basic language
learning processes of
association, brainstorming,
classification, definition,
and elaboration. The topics
for discussions expose
Science-major students to the
world of Literature that
needs to accompany their
learning of scientific
knowledge.  

課程目標
The course aims to expose
students to a language
learning environment that
motivates them to engage in
active reading and discussion
of everyday and cultural
topics. Such objective
involves introducing students
to language learning
strategies that help students
to build up their own
personal language learning
framework, allowing them to
meet the demands of a
continuous learning of a
foreign language.

discussions and evaluations.
Your full involvement entails
completing Written Homework*
(5-7), Language
Presentation, Group
Discussions, and Aural Test.

Written homework 
30% 
In order to help you prepare for oral discussions, you need to complete some homework (submitted in typed A4 paper) regularly during the course. These homework are reviewed IN CLASS and are collected at the end of the course with the necessary revisions indicated by the instructor to be used as part of the testing materials. These homework may be completed individually or in groups. 
2. 
Language presentation 
20% 
In groups of four, students prepare an oral presentation of key language points in a particular unit. Each student spends about 2-4 minutes. 
3. 
Group discussion 
30% 
This learning activity includes 4-5 students who discuss among themselves a topic covered in class. 
4. 
Aural Test 
20% 
Students listen to a presentation/discussion/conversation about a topic/s discussed in class and answer related questions.
